

Born in Birmingham, Alabama in 1932 , Harold lived a storied life as a child. The son of an Associated Press Reporter, he found himself the subject of many newspaper articles, often described as the youngest sportsman in Alabama. He acquired a deer as a pet in his younger days growing up in Central Park.
Harold climbed on the statue of Vulcan as a young boy in 1936 before it found its permanent home atop Red Mountain.
He loved the beach and spent time on the coast with his family, and sailing his boat around Holiday Isle. Harold was an active member of the Central Park Boys. He graduated from Ensley High School.
In 1953 he joined the United States Army and served as a Corporal in the Korean War, spending two years stationed in Germany where he operated as the Military Police following WWII.
He went on to attend Alabama Polytechnic Institute (Auburn University) where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Management in 1958. He married his wife of 68 years in 1958, Helen Faye Hyde, of Haleyville, Alabama. Harold worked for U.S. Steel following his service in the military, retiring in 1981.
He is survived by his wife, Helen, daughters, Tammy Wilson, Teri Scivley (Don), and Allison Bell (Chris); six grandchildren, Brooke Baron (Gai) of Sunnyvale, California, Terran Wilson (Evan) of Oak Park, Illinois, Brian Scivley (Merilyn), Hannah Braswell (Jared), Whitney Northcutt (Will), and Cathrine Conlee (Patrick) of Birmingham. Step grandchildren, Brennan Bell (Anna), Sloane Phillips (Brock) of Birmingham. He was “Buddy” to his 18 great grandchildren, of which he was immensely proud; Amalia, Aviv, and Sophia Baron, Winnie Ray and Sunny Wilson, William and Marie Scivley, Solomon and Helen(Leni) Northcutt, Lincoln, Juliette (Lettie) and Wyatt Braswell, Jovie and Jude Conlee. Step great grandchildren, Thomas, Holland, and Graham Bell and Harris Phillips. Harold was preceded in death by his parents Harold Ivan Fisher, Sr., Gertrude Ida Fisher, step mother, Florence Golson Fisher, and three sisters; Betty Hayes (Tom), Sunny Reed (David) and Maybelle Dixon (Don). He is survived by his sister Nancy Fisher.
Harold served as Deacon for decades, having become a Christian in 1967. He found great joy and wonderful friends through his many years as an active member of Midfield Baptist Church, Shades Crest Baptist Church and Shades Mountain Baptist Church.
He loved Auburn football and often attended games with his family.
The family will receive friends and share in the celebration of his life on Monday, June 8, at Shades Mountain Baptist Church/Conference Center with visitation at 10:30, service at 11:30, Dr. Danny Wood officiating.
The family extends a debt of gratitude to Harold’s caregivers Lynn Underwood and Maxine Johnson who loved him so well.
Pallbearers are Chris Bell, Don Scivley, Brian Scivley, Jared Braswell, Will Northcutt, and Patrick Conlee. Honorary Pallbearers are Gai Baron and Evan Forrest.
