Leon served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He had been a member of Cropwell Baptist Church and of Pell City Elk’s Club.
Leon was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Charlotte B. Nix. He is survived by his sister Phyllis (Steve) Alldredge; his children: Pam (Phil) Dodd, Ken Nix, Belinda Hall, Anita Massey (Jeff), Ben (Denise) Thackerson and Tammy (Garland) Brock. Left also to treasure the memory of Poppa are
his grandchildren Brooke, Lauren, Angela, Eric, Kendra, Jennifer, Brock, Paige, Hailey, Justin and his great grandchildren Brooklyn, Kaylie, Keelan, Colt, Nate, Kennedi, Kenzli, Jax, Charlie, Lilah, Bennett, Carter, Kentli and Jolene.
The family will receive friends at Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City on Saturday, June 30, 2018 beginning at 1:00 p.m. with a Celebration of Life service following at 2:00 pm. Burial will be in Harkey’s Chapel cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials in memory of Leon Nix can be made to UAB Department of Neurology for Alzheimer Research, 1720 2nd Ave. South, 420BSC, Birmingham, AL.
