

Hubert was born September 7, 1928 and left this world on February 21, 2016 to be accepted into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ who he served and praised daily.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lois Bearden, one sister, Marion Bearden, 3 brothers, Arlton, JW and Lester Bearden, sister in law, Pearl Bearden, 4 brothers in law, Dalton Johnson, Jack Ingram, Richard Brown, Walter McGaha and daughter in law, Linda Bearden.
After 66 years of marriage, he is survived by the love of his life, best friend and wife, Rubye McGaha Bearden., Vestavia. Also survived by a son, Hubert “Terry” Bearden (Regina) of Irondale and daughter, Janice “Jan” Marie Bearden, Vestavia. His pride and joy were his 2 grandchildren, Kelly Bearden of Auburn and Connie Bearden Turner (Mike) of Pinson, his 3 bonus grandchildren, Jackie Edmondson (Todd) of Gadsden, Royce Brehm (Dana) of Moundville and Shara Lingenfelter (Terry) of Huntsville. He also leaves to remember the love he shared his great granddaughter, Elizabeth Jean Turner and 8 bonus great grandchildren, Tyler Gilliam, Dylan Turner, Logan Brehm, Kelsie Gilliam, Sarah Kate Edmondson, Mary Elizabeth Edmondson, Emma Lingenfelter, Troy Lingenfelter and bonus great great grandson, Ryder Johnson. Pops and Poppy will live on in the lives of those that loved him. He is also survived by one brother, Carlton Bearden, 2 sisters, Evelyn Johnson and Nadine Ingram, 2 sisters in law Helen Smith Bearden, Marye McGaha Brown and numerous nieces and nephews.
Hugo retired from Sears and Roebuck in 1988 where he was display manager for 36 years. After retirement from Sears he worked as the warehouse manager for Birmingham Drywall. He then worked delivering medication for Reynolds Drug Store in Homewood. He loved to work and before his health slowed him down he enjoyed working at his church, Homewood Cumberland Presbyterian Church as groundskeeper and jack of all trades. He loved his Lord Jesus. As a longtime member of the Jefferson East Camp of the Gideons International he enjoyed giving new testaments and sharing the gospel with anyone that would listen.
Visitation will be at Ridouts Valley Chapel, 1800 Oxmoor Road, Homewood on Tuesday evening February 23, 5-8pm and the celebration of his life will be on Wednesday, February 24 at 11:00 am at the Homewood Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 513 Columbiana Road, Homewood. Rev. Derek Jacks, Dr. Lindey Martin and Hubert’s grandson, Rev. Royce Brehm will officiate.
