James Kenneth Hayes

Kenneth retired from Secure First Credit Union, where he served as President. His years of work reflected a steady devotion and a kind-hearted spirit that earned the respect of those who knew him.

Kenneth found deep joy in time spent with others, especially through coaching little league baseball, where he became a father figure to all who played for him. He was an avid Alabama Football fan, and he especially cherished family time on Logan Martin Lake. In the simple, meaningful rituals of gathering—particularly when he was cooking for his family—his beloved presence was felt most clearly.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his son, James Kenneth Hayes, Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Leona C. Hayes; and his son, John Robert Hayes, Sr. He is also survived by his grandchildren: James"Jamie" Kenneth Hayes III ( Elizabeth "Liz"), Linsay Hayes Oaks (Tyler Lee Oaks), John Robert Hayes, Jr.( Brandi), and Jacob Reid Hayes (fiance Isabella "Bella" Andrews). Also left to treasure his memory are his great grandchildren: David James "DJ" Hayes, Gavin Lee Oaks, Kenlee Brooke Oaks, Shepard Hayes Oaks, Hudson Reid Hayes, John Carter Hayes; and his sister, Mayrine Shiver.

Visitation will be held at Ridout's Valley Chapel in Homewood, AL, on July 13, 2026, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. A Graveside Service will be held at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Trussville, AL, on July 13, 2026, at 12:00 pm.
