

James “Jim” Rogers Jenkins, age 81, of Fairhope, AL, a retired lawyer passed away recently at his home in Fairhope. Born in Geneva, AL, on February 1, 1940, he was the son of John A. Jenkins and Louise S. Jenkins. He moved with parents to Birmingham at a young age. Jim was a member of the Marine Corps Reserve, graduated from Birmingham Southern, and earned a law degree from the University of Alabama.
He practiced law in Birmingham and Fairhope. He was avid reader of history especially of the Civil War. He thoroughly read the newspaper every day. The great love of his life was for Dulcinea, his sailboat. Sailing was his passion and he was a member of the Fairhope Yacht Club. He enjoyed dancing and socializing with his Fairhope friends.
He is survived by two sisters, Bonnie (John) Bolt of Gainesville, GA and Jennie (Mike) Murrah of Monteagle, TN; two nieces and a nephew, Caroline (Jeffery) Busse of Atlanta, GA, Meredith (Mary Ellen) Murrah of Baltimore and Douglas (Katharine) Bolt of Charlotte, NC; grandnieces and grandnephews.
Ridout’s Valley Chapel Homewood, AL, is in charge of arrangements. A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 12, 2021 at Forest Hills Cemetery. In line with sense of frugality, he would not expect flowers. Contributions can be made to the Bonham House Fund c/o Saluda, SC Historical Society or a historical society of your choosing. In his memory, please enjoy a beautiful sunset over Mobile Bay.
