

Lofton III, James "Mack" passed away on March 6, 2025. Mack was a native of Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Mack began his academic career at his father’s alma mater, Mississippi State University. Mack’s studies next led him to The University of Alabama, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English in 1976. After college, Mack worked as a regional industrial sales manager for a Fortune 500 company. Mack retired at age 62, and devoted his time to his family, friends, and hobbies, which included bass fishing, Alabama football, and all things cars. Mack was preceded in death by his parents, James Mack Lofton, Jr. and Rose Sharp Lofton. Mack was married to Dorothy Renneker Lofton and they had two children, a daughter, Ashley Elizabeth Lofton, and a son, Tyler Lancaster Lofton, whom he is survived by. Mack is also survived by his brother Robert Murray Lofton (Debbie), two nieces, Rachel Anne Morrison and Brooke Aline Lofton Chapman, and his aunt, Mary Farish Sharp.
