

James Wiley Swindle, Jr. passed away on Saturday, the 28th of November 2020. Preceding him in death were his father, James Wiley Swindle, Sr., his mother, Evelyn Cork Swindle, his sister, Amelia Swindle Pridmore, and his brother-in-law, Charles Pridmore.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sarah Seay Swindle; his daughter, Jamie Seay; and his grandson, Lance Stansberry. Mr. Swindle also leaves 8 nieces, 3 great nieces, and 1 great nephew. Mr. Swindle attended Birmingham Southern College for two years. He then served for two years in the United States Army. Upon completion of his military service, he enrolled at the University of Alabama and graduated from the university. While there, he was a member of the ROTC Program and a member of Sigma Delta Pi, an honorary Business Fraternity. He worked for 5 years in public accounting and then moved to corporate accounting. Mr. Swindle became a member of the National Association of Accountants and the Birmingham Association of Accountants. He was employed by the Woodward Iron Company and continued there after CAPCO (Cement Asbestos Products Company) acquired Woodward. His last position with Utility Analysist Company where he served as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.
Jim Swindle was remembered by his wife as the consummate gentleman---always opening car doors and always standing when a lady entered the room. He was a devoted husband. More than that, he was a committed follower of Christ. His goal in life was to exemplify Christ and to be with Him in Heaven. Mr. Swindle studied the Bible. He and his wife taught Sunday School Class for years in their adult class at Dawson Memorial Baptist Church. He was a Bible scholar and his favorite book of the Bible was Revelation. He loved prophecy and looked forward to the return of Christ. His commitment to God's word was exemplified in how he lived his life. He anticipated his reunion with his Lord. He truly was a good and faithful servant in whom God surely was well-pleased. Friends and family are cordially invited to the graveside service including military honors. Services will commence at 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday, the 8th of December, 2020 at the Alabama National Cemetery located in Montevallo, Alabama.
Thanks are given publicly to Pam Turner, Mr. Swindle's caregiver. Her loving care for 2 1/2 years will not be forgotten. Memorials honoring the life of Mr. James Wiley Swindle, Jr. may be directed to Dawson Memorial Baptist Church located at 1114 Oxmoor Road, Homewood, Alabama 35209. Services are under the direction of Ridout's Valley Chapel in Homewood.
