James D. Weger

James David "J,D." Weger, 87, passed away peacefully at his home on February 6, 2012. Mr. Weger was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Mamie Kirkland Weger, on February 16, 2001. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Billy Hillyer; his granddaughter, Meredith Rae Hillyer; his great-granddaughter, Breanna Elise Hillyer; his sister, Olivia Wheeler and numerous neices and nephews.

A native of Birmingham, Mr. Weger was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He retired in 1982 after 37 years of employment as a lab technician with Chicago Bridge and Iron. He has been a member of Dawson Memorial Baptist Church for over 25 yaers. Mr Weger loved singing and was an avid Alabama football fan. the family request that any memorials be sent to the Music Ministry at Dawson Memorial Baptist Church. The funeral service will held on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Ridout's Valley Chapel in Homewood with Dr. Gary Fenton officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Jefferson Memorial Cemetery , Hoover.
