Jane M. Elliott

Jane McPherson Elliott of Mountain Brook, age 78, passed away on October 8, 2018 at St. Martins in the Pines. She is survived by her children Carl A. Elliott, III (Samantha) of Mountain Brook and Eva Jane “Sissy” Elliott of Gainesville, GA, her Grandchildren Hannah Marie Elliott and Carl A. “Drew” Elliott, IV and her brother James H. “Jimmy” McPherson, Jr. (Glenda). She was predeceased by her husband Carl A. Elliott, Jr. (1977), and her parents James H. McPherson Sr. and Eva Ratliff McPherson.

Jane was born in Birmingham, and as a graduate of Brooke Hill school (1958) attended Stephens College (1960), and graduated from the University of Alabama (1962), earning a Masters degree in 1966. At the University she was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Jasper and Canterbury United Methodist Church of Birmingham. Jane loved her grandchildren, family and friends, and was a passionate teacher of young children in Jasper and Birmingham. She enjoyed gardening, her numerous pets and was an avid Alabama fan.

A celebration of her life will be held at her home on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be sent to The Samuel Lee Smith Advised Fund, P.O. Box 171, Jasper, AL 35502. The Samuel Lee Smith Advised Fund is helping children and youth in Walker County, Alabama live their lives to the fullest; encouraging athletics, scouting, religious activities, health and the arts, especially those who need financial assistance to participate.
