

Jane Jeffers Hagan died surrounded by family on September 11, 2015 at the age of 86. Born October 27, 1928 in Birmingham, Alabama, she was the daughter of Lewis Francis Jeffers and Minnie Bell Haynes Jeffers. A graduate of Ramsey High School she went on to graduate from Mount Vernon Junior College and attended the University of Alabama. An avid gardener, Mrs. Hagan was a devoted member and past president of the Red Mountain Garden Club as well as a member of the House and Garden Club. She spent numerous hours in her own garden and was always willing to share flowers, greenery, and her gift of flower arranging with her friends, her church, and the community. She was a member of the Country Club of Birmingham and the Junior League of Birmingham. For many years, Mrs. Hagan was a member of Mountain Brook Baptist Church. At the time of her death, she was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church. Above all else, Mrs. Hagan loved her family. She is survived by her daughter, Jane Hagan Major, her son Willis Cobb Hagan, III, her daughter-in-law Melissa Gamble Hagan, and her grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Charles Hagan Major, Elizabeth Margot Major, Willis Cobb Hagan, IV, Mary Inzer Hagan, Francis Eleanor Hagan. She was preceded in death by her infant son Guerard Haynes Hagan, her sister B'Bell Jeffers Fowlkes, and her husband of 54 years, Willis Cobb Hagan, Jr. A funeral service will be held Monday, September 14, 2015 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church at 3:00 p.m. The family will receive visitors from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. at the church. Memorials may be made to the YWCA Central Alabama or St. Luke's Episcopal Church.
