Jane Mullins

Jane Johnson Mullins, 80, of Mountain Brook, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2017. Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Hon. Joshua Sanford Mullins, Jr., and her sister, Patsy Johnson Krause. She is survived by her brother, Brown W. Johnson of Florence, South Carolina; her three daughters, Allison (Jeffery) Dailey, Elizabeth (Andrew) Simmons, and Sandra (Bill) Voigt; her six grandchildren, Ryan Swift, Caitlin Swift, Isabel Simmons, Camille Simmons, Eric Voigt, and Crawford Voigt; and her canine companion, Duffey.

Jane was born and grew up in Darlington, South Carolina, and moved to Alabama around 1966. She received great joy from her duties as a mother and grandmother. She loved gardening and was a Master Gardener. She had many passionate pursuits, including cooking, Ikebana (Japanese floral arranging), painting, and creating nature prints. She had a lifelong love of reading books. Jane was a generous and kind friend and neighbor, and she hosted many gatherings.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 23, with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. at Ridout’s Valley Chapel, 1800 Oxmoor Rd, Homewood, AL 35209. Donations in Jane’s memory may be made to Birmingham Botanical Gardens or your local library.
