

Janice Wood Grayson, age 88, of Birmingham, AL died on February 8, 2016. Mrs. Grayson was born May 6, 1927, to Florence and Bill Wood in Mobile, Al. She attended school in Mobile and graduated from the University of Alabama. She met her husband, James Grayson who was home from World War II and was married for 69 years. James and Janice enjoyed their family and all the good times spent fishing and relaxing at Lay Lake and the beach. They also enjoyed traveling the world with all its adventures. They visited all 7 continents, all 50 states and over 150 countries. Mrs. Grayson was preceded in death by her parents, Florence and Bill Wood of Mobile, AL. She is survived by her husband, James Marshall Grayson; sons, Jim (Debby) Grayson, Garry (Robbin) Grayson and Andrew (Pam) Grayson; daughters, Cathy (George) Crow and Vicki Blair; 17 grandchildren, Loren (Chris ) Chambers, Jay (Melinda) Grayson, Taylor (Michael) Clemmer, Warren (Daphe) Grayson, Emily Crow, Daniel Crow, Colin Grayson, Jeff (Limin) Grayson, Christine (Will) Smith, Liz Grayson, Harrison Blair, Ginny (Andy) Schmidt, Walter (Nora) Blair, Bryan (Marissa) Grayson, Mathew (Katie) Grayson, Jonathan Grayson and Amanda Claire Grayson in addition to 13 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Dorothy Dawson of Mobile, ASL and Alice (Terry) Babb of Clearwater, FL. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 13, 2016 1:00-2:00 at Mountain Brook Baptist Church. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 in the church sanctuary. Dr. George Crow (son in law) and Dr. Doug Dortch will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations to be directed to Big Oak Ranch. Service are under the direction of Ridout’s Valley Chapel (879-3401) Homewood, AL.
