
She was known as Margaret to her friends in Snead where she spent most of her life. She also lived in the Center Point area and Hoover. She earned a BA in business from Birmingham Southern. Later, she earned a MA in education from UAB and was working toward a PhD until becoming the guardian of her granddaughter in 1994.
Margaret is preceded in death by her daughters, Janie Ruth Carroll, Anna Rosemarie Carroll, Margaret Elizabeth Carroll Johnson, and by her husband, John Humbard. She is survived by her grandchildren, Juliana Johnson and Landon Phillips; by her daughter, Evangeline Carroll Nolde (Scott Nolde); and by her sister, Joyce Freeman.
Margaret was an outgoing and giving person. She was the tree in Sal Silverstein's "The Giving Tree". She died with a sense of peace and will be greatly missed by many.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, the 22nd of September, at Lynnhurst Cemetery in Knoxville, Tennessee. The service will commence at one o'clock in the afternoon.
Services are under the direction of Ridout's Valley Chapel in Homewood and Lynnhurst Funeral Home and Cemetery in Knoxville.
