

A native of Birmingham, Jean was born on November 7, 1925, to the late Jean Dick Norton and Frederick F. Norton, Jr. She attended Birmingham-Southern College, where she met the love of her life, David Littleton Ellis; they married November 26, 1947. Jean spent her entire life devoted to David and their two daughters. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, reading and travel, especially cross-country camping trips with her family.
Jean will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 70 years, David, and their children Nancy Ellis Cooper (Doug), and Cathy Ellis Anderson (Bruce), and granddaughter, Kelsey Jean Anderson. Jean will also be remembered by her sister, Ethel Mae Owen. She was predeceased by five other brothers and sisters: Frederick F. Norton, III, William E. Monks, Tom H. Monks, Lucille Andrews and Alice Humphreys. Jean will also be missed by several nieces and nephews.
She will be laid to rest in Hazel Cemetery, Bell Buckle, TN. Interment services will be private. Those who so desire may make donations in memory of Jean to Camp Winnataska, where both she and her daughters enjoyed many happy summers. (Donations can be mailed to P.O.
