Jean Marie Harvey, lovingly called "grandma" by most that knew her, was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven on Sunday, September 17. She went peacefully while surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Harper and Elizabeth Pearl Dorsey, her husband who she had been longing for, John Harvey, sisters Mildred Rhodes and Helen Eckardt, brother Raulin Dorsey, her twin daughter, Linda Harvey, grandson Jed Davis and her twin great grandson, Cole Stewart. She will be dearly missed by her son, Sanford "Sandy" Harvey of Daphne, AL, twin daughter Paula Stewart (David) of Birmingham and daughter, Peggy Harrison of Birmingham; her grandchildren, Brandon Stewart (Laura), Kaysie Weatherford (Jared), Kimberlie Miller (Stephen), Cassidy Nelson (Ben), Jordan Harrison (Katie), Catelin Welshans (Anthony), Jason Atwell, Ashlye Hix and Samantha Comeaux; Her great grandchildren, Blake and Brooke Cumbee, Colin and Alexandra Stewart, Sarah Grace, Jacob and Hannah Miller, Kye and Wendy Nelson, John Harvey Harrison, Gideon and Asher Welshans along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was born in Greenfield, Iowa on September 11, 1927 but has lived in Birmingham most of her life. She was employed at Parisian in Vestavia for many years in the girls department where she developed a close relationship with most of her customers. She loved people and lived life to the fullest. Her faith was evident by her actions, she reflected the love of God in everything she did. Her family was her life and she was involved in every aspect of it. She didn't miss a sporting event or performance if family was involved. She was the loudest and proudest fan you could want. Besides her family, she loved Auburn football and NASCAR races and her enthusiasm was contagious. We are thankful that her final days were spent doing the things she loved and rejoice knowing we will all be together again someday for eternity.
We will have a "Celebration of Life" service for her Sunday, September 24 at Discovery United Methodist Church in Hoover. Visitation will be at 2:00 followed by Service at 3:00. In lieu of flowers please make Donations to Disabled American Veterans or Pray Love Unite (www.ourmissionbulgaria.com)
