Jean Bromberg Lathram, 90, of Birmingham, AL went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on March 18, 2025. She was born April 9, 1934 at St Vincent's Hospital in Birmingham, AL, daughter of the late Charles Louis Bromberg III and Jean Wallace Bromberg and sister of Wallace and Virginia, also deceased. Jean is survived by her devoted husband, John Rutherford Lathram, Jr., as well as their children: Virginia Lathram Rogan (John), Manning Lathram Kingery (James), Jean Bromberg Lathram Mote, and John Rutherford Lathram III (Carol Lyn). She delighted in her 11 grandchildren: Erica Mote Stone (Hunter), Steven Mote (Katie), Sarah Mote Mathews (Jonathan), Hugh Kingery (Melissa), Harrison Kingery (Allie), Jack Rogan (Audrey), Jane Rogan Bandy (Clayton), Sally Rogan Tucker (Justin), Callie Phurrough Long (Scott), Catherine Lyn Lathram, and Margaret Jean Lathram. She was blessed with 14 great-grandchildren (with another on the way!).
Jean graduated from Holton-Arms in Washington, DC, and was a flight attendant for Eastern Airlines before her marriage to John R. Lathram in June 1955. She had fond memories of her childhood in Mountain Brook, notably walking her cow to Gilchrist’s. She cherished so many friends they made along the way. Few ever met her without being encouraged to trust and believe in Jesus Christ. During John’s military appointments, the couple accumulated many memories in Heidelberg, Germany, and Fort McClellan in Anniston, AL with Jean serving in the Officers' Wives Club. They loved skiing in Austria and traveling all over the USA in their RVs.
Jean was a member of Briarwood Presbyterian Church for over 60 years where she lived out her faith, serving others and giving back. When she wasn’t at church, she could be found in the Blue Ridge Mountains at her second home she lovingly named “Hawg Heaven”
