

Jerry Benson Adams, age 92, of Dothan, Alabama, passed away on February 15, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and excellence. Born on September 12, 1933 in Birmingham, AL to Ben Franklin and Lera Roberson Adams. Jerry lived a life characterized by a being faithful steward in the small things, generous with his time and energy and dedicated to his family and friends.
A proud graduate of Auburn University, Jerry earned a degree in mechanical engineering. Following his studies, he honorably served in the United States Army. His professional career was marked by significant contributions to infrastructure and industry; he worked for the Corps of Engineers of Alabama, where he focused on bridge design, and later served in management at several BorgWarner facilities.
Throughout their marriage of 72 years, Jerry and his wife, Lucile, partnered together to assist many nonprofits. Together they organized and served the “Good Timers” group at church. Jerry volunteered with the Junior Achievement and helped oversee the construction of the conference center at Camp Maranatha in Scottsboro, AL.
In his free time, Jerry loved to laugh with friends and family, open his home to loved ones and hone new skills by tinkering with hands-on projects. Jerry’s hobbies included furniture refinishing, home restoration, and landscaping. He also had a deep interest in genealogy and enjoyed spending his time traveling and camping. Jerry will be remembered as a man who was willing to help anyone with whatever they needed, to the best of his ability.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Ben Franklin and Lera Roberson Adams, and his wife, Lucile Glasgow Adams.
Jerry is survived by his daughter, Susan Adams O’Brien (Michael); four grandchildren, Adam Borue O’Brien, Kerry Kathleen Herring, Heather Michelle Pienaar, and Brianna Noel McAmis; and seven great-grandchildren, Aiden, Cace, William, Lera, Warwick, Matheus and Henrik.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 24,2026, at 12:00pm at Ridout’s Valley Chapel in Birmingham, Alabama following the 11:00 visitation.
