Early Wednesday afternoon, September 8, 2021, the Reverend Doctor Jerry Lynn Curry passed peacefully into the presence of his Lord and Savior and reunited with loved ones who preceded him in death. These include his beloved daughter Beth Curry King, his parents Mosley Olis and Ora Pearl Lynn Curry, sisters Vera Curry Walker and Barbara Curry Spradling, brothers Orval Mosley Curry and Louey Calvin Curry, and other much-loved family members and friends. Jerry devoutly loved and served God. He was a Baptist pastor for more than 60 years, serving churches in Mississippi, Alabama and Florida and helping countless people find their way to Christ. He was a loving, kind and generous man who brought joy and brightness to every gathering, whether it was family, friends or church congregations. He was always quick to offer a helping hand to anyone in need and to go the extra mile to bring comfort and peace to others to lift their spirits. Jerry fiercely loved his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was also an avid University of Alabama football fan. Sharing football Saturdays with his beloved wife and daughters was always a happy and special time for him - win or lose. Jerry was born December 21,1939, in Birmingham. He graduated from William Carey University and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He received his Doctorate Degree in Theology from Luther Rice Seminary. He is survived by the love of his life and cherished wife of almost 60 years Dr. Ann Nalls Curry; treasured daughter Kimberley Ann Curry(Tom Pennavaria); grandchildren Christopher Robert Hawk, Anna Katherine Hawk (Forrest) Winkle, and Mary Elizabeth Hawk (Mason) VanSword; and two great-grandchildren Sloane Elizabeth Winkle and Grey Lee VanSword; sister Alverene Curry Prather; as well as nieces, nephews and other extended family who will cherish memories of him. Visitation will be Friday, September 10, from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. at Ridout's Valley Chapel,1800 Oxmoor Road, Homewood, AL 35209. Funeral services will be at Valley Chapel on Saturday, September 11, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
