Jimmy Shelton Hartley

Jimmy Shelton Hartley, passed away peacefully in his home on November 21, 2023. He was born in Birmingham, Alabama on October 15, 1934 to the late Alma and Raymond Hartley. He graduated from Shades Valley High School and served in the United States Navy for 4 years. Jim retired from ACIPCO where he worked in the Drafting Department. He enjoyed working there and being part of the bowling team He married the love of his life Beatrice Walker and they lived many happy years in Homewood before moving to Pelham.

Jimmy was precede in death by his loving wife Bea and his older brother Durl Gene Hartley a beloved sister in law Marian Hartley and a most special nephew “Skip” Gifford Walker. He is survived younger brother Raymond Hartley; his loving family of nieces and nephews: Donna Harris, Barbara Walker, Andy Hartley, Lorraine Kist, Dennis Hartley, Brad Hartley, Paige Seibring, Pam Stimpson and his cherished friend and adopted family member Yulie Ambor and by the best neighbor in the world Polly Martin. Also left to treasure his memory are numerous great nephews and nieces one most dear to his heart “the little redheaded boy” Ross aka Tootie Abernathy.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Crest Cemetery.
