

Jim Traylor, 69, of Vestavia Hills, died of cancer on Friday, August 26.
A native of Sycamore, AL, he was preceded in death by his parents, James Thomas Traylor and Sarah Adcock Traylor.
He is survived by his wife Barbara Carlton Traylor, his daughters Lindsay Roy and Robin LeCompte and her husband Troy, of Chauvin, LA, their sons Tyler Roy and Troy LeCompte, Jr., and his sister, Diane Campbell and her husband John of Talladega.
An Eagle Scout, Jim graduated from Sylacauga High School, where he played football and basketball. A lifelong Roll Tide fan, he majored in business administration at the University of Alabama. He served in the U.S. Air Force, Strategic Air Command, stateside and in England, with Top Secret security clearance.
Jim spent the majority of his business career as an executive in the petroleum industry prior to owning his own business.
He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, Society of the Descendents of Washington’s Army at Valley Forge, and American Legion Post #134.
Jim had a wonderful memory for detail, a passion for conservative politics, and was a clever and thoughtful writer.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 30, at 10:00 a.m. in the parlor of Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church, where Jim was a member, with services in the church chapel at 11:00 a.m. A private burial at Elmwood Cemetery will follow, coordinated by Ridout’s Valley Chapel.
