Jo Ann Gaither Webb, born December 19, 1941, in Birmingham, Alabama, was the beloved daughter of the late Richard and Anna Gaither. Known affectionately as “JoJo” to most who knew and loved her, Joanne will be remembered for her giving heart, loving soul, and creative spirit.
Jo Ann graduated from Woodlawn High School and attended Auburn University, where she was a member of Phi Mu sorority. Her love for Auburn became a cherished family tradition that she proudly passed down to her daughter, son, and granddaughters.
A dancer and dance teacher for much of her life, Joanne had a deep love for the performing arts. She delighted in dancing, singing, musicals, and all things creative. Painting was especially dear to her and became one of her greatest passions. Along with painting, gardening was another hobby she loved. She also enjoyed a professional career as an executive assistant for many years.
Above all, Joanne treasured her family. She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Webb Watson; her son, Robert Webb and his wife, Tina Webb; and her beloved granddaughters, Georgiana Watson and Ruby Watson.
JoJo brought creativity, generosity, and love into the lives of those around her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family and friends, who will carry her joyful spirit and beautiful legacy with them always.
There will be a private family burial followed by a gathering of friends and family at the home of Janet Haas from 11:30 to 1:30 on Wednesday, September 2, 2026.
