John William Amberson age 65 of McCalla went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Feb. 13,2016 following a long battle with cancer. He was a 1969 graduate of Hewitt Trussville High School and following high school John joined the U. S. Air Force. He was an automobile salesman in the Birmingham area for many years and a member of Canaan Baptist Church on Morgan Road in Bessemer, AL.
John is survived by his wife Debbie D. Amberson and his children David Amberson ( Joy), Christin Amberson (Todd), step son Tony Norris, and special daughter Aaliyah Amberson, grandchildren Brooke and Jakob Amberson, Christian, Carter and Colton Norris and a host of friends and relatives.
A memorial service will be Sunday, Feb. 21,2016 at 2:00 PM Canaan Baptist Church in EB 300 on Morgan Road in Bessemer, Rev. Morgan Bailey officiating. A graveside service will be Monday, Feb. 22, 2016 at 1:15 at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL. Rev. Charles Teague officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest that donations be made to Canaan Baptist Church building fund.
