John Overton Sehon, age 86 of Vestavia Hills, passed away at his home on Wednesday, June 13, 2018. He is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Sue Hulsey Sehon; a sister, Shirley (Don) Bowen of Corsicana, TX; and many nieces and nephews across the country who will cherish his memory. John was raised in Texas and graduated from Abilene Christian University. He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. He was a Sales Service Supervisor for Jefferson Standard Insurance Company and retired after 30 years. John was a faithful Christian and a charter member of Palisades Church of Christ. He was known for his gentle spirit and generous nature. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 16th, at Ridout’s Valley Chapel in Homewood. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held privately for the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials honoring the life of John O. Sehon may be directed to Palisades Church of Christ, Rainbow Omega, Box 740, Eastaboga, Alabama 36260 or to Heritage Christian University, Box HCU, Florence, Alabama 35630. Services are under the direction of Ridout’s Valley Chapel located at 1800 Oxmoor Road in Homewood.
