peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Joe spent his entire life in Birmingham,
attending Avondale and Mountain Brook Grammar Schools.
He graduated high school from
Birmingham University School and then attended
The University of Alabama, graduating with a
degree in marketing. He made lifelong friends at
Alabama and was a member of ATO fraternity.
After college, he served in the Alabama Air
National Guard before a career in advertising.
Later he joined the family business, Joe H. Brady & Associates,
with his father. Joe had a passion for
the outdoors and spent time hunting and fishing with
family and friends. He loved to fly fish and traveled
many places with his loving wife to enjoy the sport.
This passion led him to his later business of the conservation
and protection of natural lands and wildlife.
Joe enjoyed a lifetime of friendships playing golf and
tennis as a member of The Birmingham Country Club.
He was also a member at The Club, University of Alabama
Executives Society, Birmingham Beaux Arts Krewe,
and his beloved Crawford Owen Sunday School class.
He served on the board of First Alabama Bank,
The Boys Scouts of America-Vulcan District, Alabama
Independent Colleges and Universities, The Club and
The Lovelady Center.
Joe is survived by the love of his life,
his wife Angelia. They were lucky to have been
married for fifty years. He will be remembered
by his daughter Caroline (Bill) LaMotte
of Columbia, SC, his son Joe H (Cathryn) Brady, III,
of Birmingham and his grandchildren whom he
loved dearly - Carter LaMotte, Francis LaMotte,
Islay Brady, Henry Brady and soon to arrive Charley Brady.
Joe is also survived by his sister Grace (Robert) Bentley,
as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Joe, known as Pop, is greatly loved and will be missed by many.
The family would like to thank all of the doctors and medical staff
who cared for and treated him through
this journey.
Visitation will be held at Canterbury United Methodist Church
at 10:30 am on Wednesday, March 21st, with
a memorial service immediately following in the sanctuary at 11:30 am.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to
Canterbury United Methodist Church, in care of Martha’s Garden.
