Joseph Todd Davie, age 64, of Birmingham, Alabama, passed away quietly at his home on October 27, 2023. He was a former Merrill Lynch stockbroker, student of Shades Valley High School class of 1978, and an alumni of the University of Mississippi, class of 1981.
Known to all for his fun-loving and lighthearted spirit, his joyful nature brightened the lives of everyone around him. In his spare time, Todd found comfort at his lake property where he cherished moments with his beloved dogs Hans and Boudreaux and practiced archery. He had an unwavering passion for music, often attending shows, collecting vintage guitars, and even commissioning one of his favorite americana bands to produce a full length record in memory of his mother following her passing. His sentimental nature was a testament to his caring heart.
Todd was a big foodie and creative in the kitchen as well. His culinary skills brought joy to those fortunate enough to enjoy his dishes. Todd also had a special knack for bringing people together. He loved hosting small get togethers at his house, where friends and family could enjoy one another’s company.
Throughout his life, Todd openly acknowledged his struggles with addiction, but he transformed his personal battle and his strong faith into a source of inspiration for others. His desire to serve others led him to openly share the Gospel and offer support to those in need. He was an active supporter of Shepherd's Fold, a ministry dedicated to assisting and providing services to men reintegrating into society after incarceration. He founded his own ministry, "Bread of Life," through which he delivered food and bakery products to half-way houses and boarding homes for the mentally challenged. His steadfast vision was to turn his life's challenges into a message that would glorify God.
Todd was preceded in death by his parents, Sara B. Davie and Dr. J. Clayton Davie. He is survived by his daughter Lauren D. Newman, his sister Leslyn D. Weathers, and his brothers J. Clayton Davie, Jr., Gabe Y. Davie, Ashley K. Davie, and a host of loving family and friends.
Todd will be dearly missed and his memory will forever be cherished by those whose lives he touched. His dedication to helping others, creativity, and ability for uniting people will continue to inspire and leave a lasting impact.
