

Joseph was born on July 23, 1980, in Birmingham, Alabama to Mike and Linda Godfrey. He lived a life filled with love for his family, kindness to others, and was creative and extremely detailed with projects. He enjoyed spending time with friends and was the most loyal friend anyone could have.
Joseph is survived by several aunts, uncles, and fantastic cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Joseph was a high school athlete, playing football, soccer, and wrestling at Vestavia Hills, Alabama. He was a member of several State Champion Wrestling teams. He excelled in academics and received several college full tuition scholarship offers. He elected to accept a scholarship from Auburn University, where he received a degree in Engineering. He was a proud and active member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity.
He received the Master Certification Program-Green Belt; Lean Six Sigma, and Lean Six Sigma Black Belt from Villanova University.
Joseph enjoyed following all sports and could quote statistics for teams and players. He especially was partial to Auburn Football and Basketball, and UAB Basketball.
Visitation will be held at Ridout’s Valley Chapel, 1800 Oxmoor Road, Homewood, AL on July 5, 2026, from 2-4 PM. On July 6, 2026, visitation will be from 10-11 AM with the funeral service to follow at Ridout’s Valley Chapel at 11:00 AM and graveside service/burial at Southern Heritage Cemetery in Pelham, AL.
In lieu of flowers, his parents request donations be made to The American Heart Association or The American Cancer Society in Joseph Howard Godfrey’s honor.
