Joyce Brown Yancey entered into the Presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, February 29, 2020. Preceded in death by her husband Carl, Joyce is survived by her two daughters, Michelle Yancey Gewin (Jim) and Marie Yancey Walker (Bert). She was grandmother to eight and greatgrandmother to 2 and a half. Joyce was also spiritual mother to innumerable individuals. A wife, mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother, she was a lady who believed the Bible and lived her life accordlingly. Having met her Savior as a child through the ministry of the Gideons Internationl, she faithfully served her beloved Lord Jesus as a home-based missionary with the Wales Goebel Ministry for more than 50 years. Her life’s goal was to know Him and make Him known which she did through personal and large-group evangelism. One of her favorite sayings was “When you birth babies, you have to feed them” so she faithfully fed His flock through numerous weekly Bible classes and by spending one-on-one time with ladies teaching both by the Bible and example how to walk with the Lord Jesus on a moment-by-moment basis. She always said that discipleship is “association before information” thus she made herself available on a 24/7 basis to anyone who needed to be pointed to Him. Her love for the Lord was contagious and her life truly demonstrated Philippians 1:21 – “to live is Christ, to die is gain.”
Celebration of His Life in her will be Thursday, March 5th at Ridout’s Valley Chapel in Homewood with visitation beginning at 1:00 and the service at 2:00.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorials to be made to Gideons International.
