

While serving in the US Navy as a Navy Seal, Karl sustained injuries resulting in blindness and other injuries. Subsequently, he became involved with the Southeastern Blind Rehabilitation Center,
where Karl served as President of the Alumni Assoc. He devoted himself to helping other blind veterans.
Always learning something new, Karl learned the art of wood-turning. He spent hours in his workshop creating beautiful pieces. Among these were ornaments for the Christmas trees at Children's Hospital.
He loved life and believed nothing was impossible. He designed and help build a golf course because of his love of golf. He learned to run on an artificial leg and trained for a marathon but never got to run... Just to name a few. His efforts will continue through the efforts of those dearest to him.
He leaves behind his wife, Myra G. Harper, his son Jacob; daughter, Kelsey both of Bulah, AL; sister Tina Norrid of Woodland ,Al Brothers Jeff ,Andy, Glynn of Valley , Al; step daughter Rennae Wheat; stepsons ,Richard Moore, Randy Moore and Brett Roberts and Grandchildren and a plethora of friends and admirers.
Visitation will be on Sunday, March 20, 2016 beginning at 2: 00 p.m. with a memorial service following at 3:00 p.m. at Cahaba Heights United Methodist Church.
