Karla Oliver Spence

Kacy grew up in Homewood, AL, and had many fond memories from her time in the Homewood School System. A creative person with a wry sense of humor, Kacy was a true bibliophile and had many interests in subjects like history. Genealogy was a particular favorite. She loved to research surnames to find their origins and meanings.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Billie Riley and Carl Oliver, sister Ginger Black Rich, and her beloved husband, Peter Schmidt Spence. She is survived by her brother Gary Oliver (Janey), sons Paul (Haley), Danny (Megan), and Gary Spence, grandchildren Landon, Danielle, and Oliver Spence as well as nieces and nephews.

A catered Celebration of Life will be held at Ridout’s Valley Chapel in Homewood on Sunday, December 21, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. The Spences encourage family and friends to sign/post condolences or stories about Kacy online to the link attached to the obituary.
