Kathryn Wood Hughey

Kathryn Wood Hughey of Mountain Brook passed away peacefully on Monday, August 3, 2015 at the age of 76. Kathryn (Kay) was born to parents Robert E. and Frances D. Wood on 14 June, 1939 in Cleveland, Ohio. She grew up in Birmingham as the eldest of four and attended Woodlawn High School.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John Hughey; her granddaughter Tatum Elizabeth Hoff, and her parents Frances and Bob. Kay is survived by her daughter Searcy Lynn Hinkle and a grandson John Trygve Hoff. She is also survived by brothers Robert Wood, Jr. of Pell City, Alabama, Donald Wood of Fort Payne, Alabama and William Wood of Double Oak, Texas.

Kay was an avid gardener and loved to spend time in her yard. She also will always be remembered for her love of art, music and animals.

Funeral Service will be 11:00, at Ridout’s Valley Chapel, 1800 Oxmoor Road, Homewood on Friday, August 7, 2015. A private burial will follow. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be sent to the Greater Birmingham Humane Society
