

Born on April 22, 1936, Kay was the daughter of the late T.L. and Louise Windham and was known for her hard-working and selfless nature throughout her life.
Kay attended Childersburg High School and pursued further education at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). She also studied Management and Supervision and Law and Arbitration at Jefferson State Community College earing her college degree and showcasing her commitment to lifelong learning.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Otis Ray Windham, and her parents, T.L. and Louise Windham.
Kay is survived by her children, Beverly Kyle Carver, Suzan McFerrin, and Gregory Lee Carver (Becky); her grandchildren, Joshua Keith McFerrin (Brooke) and James Andrew McFerrin (Samantha); her great-granddaughter, Lillian Iris McFerrin; and her two sisters, Carolyn Windham and Edith Jean Flick.
Kay was a faithful member of the Deerfoot Parkway Church of Christ. Her passion for politics led her to serve as a two-term delegate for the Democratic National Convention in Washington, DC, and Los Angeles, California. She was very active in the union, a member of the Communication Workers of America (CWA), and a lobbyist and member of the AFL-CIO. Her working career began with South Central Bell as an operator, and she retired as a dispatcher with AT&T.
Funeral services and burial for Kay were held privately for the family at Green Hill Cemetery in Childersburg, Alabama.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to Rainbow Omega in Eastaboga, Alabama. Rainbow Omega has been serving adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities since 1995. They are located at 100 Hope Drive, Eastaboga, Alabama 36260.
Services were under the direction of Ridout's Valley Chapel (205-879-3401) in Homewood.
