
family on January 25th, 2021 after a prolonged battle with pancreatic cancer. Her love of family,
enthusiasm for life and concern for others will be greatly missed. She was a wonderful wife,
mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend who brightened the lives of those who knew her.
Kendall was born on June 30, 1964 in Mobile, Alabama to Conrad Ressler “Pap” Geddert and
Dorothy Sheffield Geddert. She grew up in Monroeville, Alabama and graduated from Monroe
County High School in 1982. She was employed by America’s First Credit Union until the birth
of her first child and remained a stay at home mom until her children started school. As a
parent, she was active at Hall-Kent Elementary School where she served as President of the
PTO and Chairman of the annual Hall-Kent Fall Festival. Her love of the school, its teachers
and students led her to begin working as a substitute teacher, a position that would turn into a
full time job as an aide in a preschool classroom. As a preschool aid she extended her love and
caring personality to each of the students and teachers at the school. Throughout Homewood,
her students and their parents greeted her fondly with “Hey Miss Kendall.”
She was preceded in death by her father, Pap, and an infant daughter, Caroline. She is survived
by her loving husband of 30 years, David Hornady, daughter Elizabeth (CJ) Milstead, son
Hunter, mother Dot (LJ) Stewart, sister Kim (Tim) Richards, sister Kris (Chris) Black and her
nieces and nephews David (Kathy) Black, William (Rebekah) Black, Sarah Catherine (Charlie)
Hearn, Whitney (Jerome) Isley, Rachael (Spencer) Powell, Hannah (John) Raffles, and Lily
Richards, great nieces and nephews Nolan, Ryan, and Caroline Isley, Baker and Brooks Hearn,
David Black, III, Carter and Teddy Powell, and her beloved boxer, Henry.
A memorial service will be held at Dawson Memorial Baptist Church on Thursday, February 4,
2021 at 4:00pm. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to help fund
pancreatic cancer research at PanCan Purple Stride Alabama - team name
