Larry Eugene Wells

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Edsel Wells and Rose Ella Morein Wells of Birmingham, AL; his first wife, Bobbie Lee Dorough Wells of Pell City, AL; and his son, Kevin Anthony Wells of Lawrenceville, GA. He is survived by his second (ex) wife, Paula Denise Arnold Wells of Lawrenceville, GA; his daughter, Rhonda Renee Wells of Charlotte, NC, and his son, Adam Michael Wells of Lawrenceville, GA. He is also survived by his siblings John Reuel Wells (Denise) of Powder Springs, GA; Mary Claire Wells (Andrew) Griffith of Birmingham, AL; and Edsel Joseph Wells (Susan) of Mountain Brook, AL.

Larry was an accomplished electrical engineer who specialized in instrumentation and control systems, particularly for power plants and pulp and paper mills. He was highly esteemed in his field, having received numerous awards and honors from his colleagues of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the International Society of Automation (ISA).

An alumnus of Auburn University, Larry was an avid football fan who enjoyed many Saturdays at Jordan-Hare Stadium with his children. He loved to travel, and he relished to tell a story. He had an almost boundless curiosity and a unique sense of humor. He tried his best to love his family and to be of service to his neighbor.

A visitation for Larry will be held on Monday, September 9, 2024 at Ridout's Valley Chapel from 12:00 - 1:30 pm. Graveside service will follow at Forest Crest Cemetery at 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to your favorite charity.

He will not be forgotten.
