Laurice M David
May 26, 1927 – January 10, 2021
Laurice Mizerany David (93) of Birmingham, Alabama entered into eternal life Sunday, January 10, 2021. Born on the boat to America from Zahle’, Lebanon, Laurice graced this world in 1927. Laurice was a woman of great integrity and strength. She knew the meaning of true sacrifice and loved her family unconditionally. Her parents, Samuel Mizerany and Yamna Tersheshee, instilled in Laurice, as well as her three younger siblings, an unmatched work ethic at an early age. Feeding and caring for her neighbor during the depression years at their families restaurant, Central Cafe, was a regular daily engagement for Laurice. This same vigor carried into her life as a sister, wife, mother and grandmother. A woman of admirable faith, Laurice was a loyal and life long member of St. George Melkite Greek Catholic Church and spent many years as a member of the St. Anns Club. Cooking was one of her finest gifts and she never let a guest leave her house hungry. Laurice leaves a legacy of tradition, joy, hospitality, and generosity as exemplified throughout her life. Her infectious laugh, beautiful personality, and warm affection will be greatly missed. As Laurice would say about many, to know her was to love her. Laurice was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Herbert George David and son, Joseph Solomon David. Laurice is survived by her son, Lawrence G. David (Lisa) and her daughter, Laura D. Waldheim (Michael). Laurice, better known as “Sitti” to her family, is remembered by her many grandchildren and great grandchild: Adam, Devin (Drew), Andrea (John Crawford), Kyle, Kristopher (Jacqueline), Lindsey, Allie, Sabrina and Cecilia Catherine (CeCe). The David family will receive friends and family Thursday, January 14, from 10 to 11am at St. George Melkite Greek Catholic Church 425 16th Avenue South, Birmingham, Alabama 35205. A private memorial service will be conducted at the church at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. George Melkite Greek Catholic Church building fund in Laurice’s honor.
