

Lois born January 15, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois passed away June 24, 2012. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Viola Hofmann of Chicago, her husbands, William F. Stoeffhaas and Dr. Raymond Dempsey and her sister, Betty Zink.
She is survived by her sons Bill Stoeffhaas (Cindi) of Birmingham and Jerry Stoeffhaas (Lois) of Bronxville, New York, granddaughters, Emily Stoeffhaas Tucker and Jacquie Dempsey Krogulski, stepson John Dempsey, stepdaughter Sally Dempsey O'Riley, grandson, William Stoeffhaas, and great grandson, Chad Tucker, sister, Viola Wilkens,Brother-in-law, Roger Zink and many nieces and nephews.
In 1944, Lois began working at Arnold, Schwinn & Company where she met and soon married "the love of her life" William F. Stoeffhaas. They spent many wonderful years together and enjoyed traveling extensively including annual trips to the Kentucky Derby, winters in Boca Raton, FL and summers in Sun Valley, ID. She was an avid golfer and especially proud to have received lessons from golfing great Sam Snead.
After William’s passing, Lois met the second “love of her life”, Dr. Ray Dempsey and moved to Joliet, IL to become "Mom" to Ray's children, John and Sally and grandmother to John’s daughter Jacquie.
In 1990, Lois moved to Birmingham where she became a dedicated volunteer at UAB Hospital.
To honor Lois’ life, her family will hold a private ceremony and in lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be made to the charity of their choice.
