Lynne Harris

Born on October 29, 1962, in Gadsden, Alabama, Lynne lived a life defined by compassion, generosity, and an unwavering love for others. She was known for her warm spirit, outgoing personality, and ability to make everyone around her feel welcome.

Throughout her career, Lynne worked as a mortgage loan underwriter before pursuing a role as a Disney travel planner, where she found joy in helping families create lasting memories. She was also a dedicated supporter of the Greater Birmingham Humane Society and the Animal League of Birmingham, devoting her time and energy to helping animals in need, which was a cause that was especially close to her heart. Almost every pet she took in was a rescue, and her impact on beings big and small never went unnoticed.

Lynne had an incredible gift for gardening and could make anything bloom. Her green thumb reflected the care and patience she showed in every aspect of her life. Whether she was tending to her garden, caring for animals, or lending a helping hand to a friend or stranger, Lynne's kindness touched countless lives.

Perhaps one of Lynne's greatest legacies was her remarkable strength and courage during her battle with ALS. She faced her illness with determination, grace, and resilience, inspiring everyone who knew her. Her compassion never wavered, even in the most difficult moments, and she continued to put others before herself.

Lynne is survived by her loving mother Margie Raney Elrod, her son Alex Harris, her sister Carol Ledbetter, her nieces Brooke Hutchins and Brittany Green, nephew Matt Green, he and Brittany’s sons Braylon and Kayden Green, and her daughter-in-law Emma Brown, who will forever cherish her love, guidance, and unwavering support.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Lynne's life during a visitation on Sunday, July 12, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Ridout's Valley Chapel in Homewood, Alabama.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the ALS Association or Team Gleason in Lynne's honor. Supporting these organizations is a meaningful way to continue the fight against ALS and honor the courage with which Lynne lived each day.

Lynne's kindness, generous heart, and love for people and animals will be deeply missed, but her legacy will continue to bloom in the lives she touched. She will be remembered always with love.
