

.Margaret Palmer Benton passed away unexpectedly on April 4, 2014 at the age of 73. Born and raised in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, she graduated from Tuscaloosa High School and attended the University of Alabama. She was devoted to her family and enjoyed cooking and interior design. In 1990, her passion for interior design led to her co-founding M’s Fabric Gallery, a business that she managed until her death.
She was predeceased by her parents, Houston Henley Palmer and Sadie Steward Palmer and her sisters Exer Euelle Palmer Smith, and Avis Louise Palmer. She is survived by her children William Ralph Cook Jr. (Suzanne), James Houston Cook (Sheri) and David Giger Cook (Jana) as well as her brother Henley Gordon Palmer, and sisters Ree Palmer Scott, Gladys Palmer Barton, and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Mary Palmer Cook, Anne Grey Cook, William Lee Cook, Margaret Elizabeth Cook, Sara Catherine Cook, William Ralph Cook III, and Rebecca Leigh Cook. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on April 8, 2014 at Independent Presbyterian Church in Birmingham, AL at 2:00 p.m. with a visitation to follow in the Parlor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Independent Presbyterian Church, 3100 Highland Avenue, Birmingham, AL 35205 or to a charity of your choice.
