Margaret (Marti) A. Cranford passed away suddenly on September 7, 2022 at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester, MA.
Daughter, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Marti was born in Birmingham, AL to her parents Henry and Lois Penfield. Marti led an exciting and vibrant life growing up in Birmingham, attending Auburn University, marrying Eugene (Gene) E. Cranford in 1962, raising sons Jim and Scott, criss-crossing the country, living in California, Ohio, Georgia, New Jersey, Washington, Oregon and both North and South Carolina, starting and managing several successful businesses and had so many varied and impressive accomplishments. She was a Cordon Bleu trained chef, author, interior designer, world traveler, philanthropist, successful business woman, wine enthusiast, volunteer and art collector.
Marti is survived by her son James Cranford (Robin) of Napier, New Zealand; son Scott Cranford (Gina) and grandsons, Joshua and William of Berlin, MA; brother in law Gerald Cranford (Cathy) of Santa Ana, CA; nephew David Cranford (Meaghan) of Alameda, CA; nieces Melissa Cranford (Jim) of Bristol, PA and Samantha Cranford of Ashton, PA; nephews Russell Penfield (Jennifer) of Huntsville, AL and Matthew Penfield (Emily) of Birmingham, AL.
Marti was preceded in death by her husband Gene; her parents Henry and Lois and her brother Irvin.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday October 9th at 2pm at Woodlawn Methodist Church at 139 54th Street North in Birmingham followed by interment at Forest Hill Cemetery.
