Born to Henry Addison Teel and Beunie Lee Rudd Teel on October 15, 1932, Marion was the youngest of three children. She grew up in the small town of Rockford where she attended school and excelled in academics. She then attended Judson College and subsequently Samford University and graduated as one of the top students in her class with a degree in English. She went on to get her Masters in English at The University of Alabama. Upon graduating she moved to Sylacauga where she taught school.
It was in Sylacauga that she met the love of her life, Paul Jones, and soon they were married. Their marriage could only be described as a perfect marriage, one that endured for 63 years till Paul’s death in 2019. Paul and Marion had two sons, Martin and Phillip, and the family went on camping trips all over the United States and even Canada. In addition to working a full career as a teacher and then as a special claim expediter for the Social Security Administration, Marion found the time to always keep such a clean house and cook the most wonderful food. She and Paul loved bargain hunting , gardening, playing bridge with friends, and projects around the house.
Those who knew Marion knew what a kind gentle woman she was. She had a really big heart and loved all of her family and friends. She as well had a great love of animals, especially dogs. She was a longtime member of Mountain Brook Baptist Church.
She is survived by her two sons Dr. Martin Paul Jones Jr and Phillip Jones as well as her daughter in law Angie Jones. In addition she has four grandchildren, Marjorie, Natalie, Paul, and Amanda.
The funeral will be Saturday December 10th 2022 at noon at the chapel at Mountain Brook Baptist Church.
