Mark Adrian Mussell

Dr. Mark A. Mussell, age 55, of Mountain Brook, AL passed away Sunday morning, March 19, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents Walter Edward Mussell and Rita Lohmeier Mussell of Atlanta, GA and his father-in-law Ralph H. Green of Hoover, AL. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Dr. Holly Green Mussell, their children Eric, Lauren, and Kathryn, his mother-in-law Ann Peterson Green of Hoover, AL. , his siblings Walter Mussell (Ellen), Shelby Cox (Clint), Greg Mussell, Chris Mussell (Barbara), Judi Naylor, Steve Mussell (Brenda), Maria Newman (Chris), and Anne Power (Tap), his sister-in-laws Janet Cooke (John) and Linda McKinney (Mark) and many nieces and nephews. Mark graduated from Springhill College in 1983 and received his MD from UAB in 1987. He completed an orthopedic residency at UAB in 1993 and practiced orthopedic surgery at St. Vincent's East and in Trussville, AL until his untimely death. Mark enjoyed Alabama football games, estate sales with his daughters, spending time with his family, riding bikes with his wife along Hwy 30A in Walton County, FL. , and fixing anything that was broken. He was blessed by the devotion of his patients and the camaraderie of his coworkers, especially Blake Scott and Sherron Dulion. He was a dependable, humble, and gentle man who was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. Funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at 12:00 pm at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church preceded by a visitation from 11:00 am until noon. A meal will follow in the Parish Hall.
