He is preceded in death by his parents, Buck and Evelyn Schmalz, and brother-in-law Bill Crawford.
Mark is survived by his six siblings; Dick Schmalz (Jane), Bill Schmalz, Beth Crawford, Robert Schmalz (Hilarie), Barbara Carter (Lindsey), Jim Schmalz (Mary Jo), as well as all his nieces and nephews; and his girlfriend, Angie Adams.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 21, 2018 from 10:00 - 11:00 am with a prayer service following at 11:00 am at Ridout's Valley Chapel, Homewood, AL.
