Martha Ann Robbins

Ann was a woman of extraordinary beauty, strength, grace and an unwavering faith in God. She was born August 23, 1940 in Athens, AL, to the late Frank P. and Ora Lee Turner.

Ann met the love of her life, James W. "Mo" Robbins, in Athens while Mo was attending Athens College on a basketball scholarship. After getting married and graduating school they moved to Birmingham to start their life together. Mo was a yearbook salesman extraordinaire and Ann was an educator, a role that she loved. While raising two young sons Ann received her B.S. in Education from Sanford University in 1969, her M.S. in Education from Sanford University in 1972 and a certificate of Advanced Study in Education in 1978.

Ann taught at Vestavia Hills Elementary School from 1969-1971. She then taught at Louis Pizitz.

Middle School from 1972-1978. In 1978 she got her dream job as Principal of Edgewood Elementary School where she continued her role in educating children and also began mentoring young teachers to be their best.

Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, James W "Mo" Robbins, her in-laws Col. Joseph and Julia Inez Ware, her sister Jeanette LeCroix and her granddaughter Casey Ann Nichols.

She is survived by her sons James "Woody" Robbins, Jr. and Joseph "Joe" H. Robbins, II, (Kelli); her grandchildren Harper Grace and Izzy and brothers Gerald Turner, Ray Turner (Gayle), David Turner (Cindy) and Pat Turner (Venelia).

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2026 at Ridout's Valley Chapel located at 1800 Oxmoor Road, Homewood, Alabama 35209. Friends are cordially invited to the visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Elmwood Cemetery.

Ann filled many roles in her life, Child of God, Wife, Mother and Teacher, each of which she kindly and lovingly fulfilled. "Well done my good and faithful servant!"
