Martha A. King

Martha Anne King, age 83 of Homewood, passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2014. She was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church for over 40 years. Mrs. King enjoyed serving her community at Brookwood Medical Center where she dedicated 26 years and over 9,000 hours as a volunteer.

Mrs. King was preceded in death by her husband Rufus Billy King, Sr., son Dwayne L. King, Sr. and grandson Stephen D. King. She is survived by sons: Rufus ‘Billy” King, Jr., Phillip E. King and Dwight L. King (Renee). Affectionately known as Grand Martha she is also survived by her grandchildren Corey, Gavin, Leiloni, Dwayne, Jr. and Stephanie.

The family would like to thank all the staff of Brookwood Medical Center and Noland Hospital Shelby for their loving care shown to their mom.

The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. with funeral services starting at 11:00 a.m. at Ridout’s Valley Chapel on Saturday, March 15th with a reception following. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The Make-A Wish foundation.
