

Mary Ann McDonald Baum, born May 4, 1932, died on April 20, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. Mary Ann, a native of Birmingham, Alabama graduated from Phillips High School and attended Auburn University before marrying her beloved spouse, Edwin Carleton Baum, Sr., who predeceased her in 2009. Together, Mary Ann and Ed forged an adventurous and exciting life that took them many places: Norfolk, Virginia; Cambridge, England; Cape Canaveral, Florida; Simi Valley, California; Huntsville, Alabama; and, Slidell, Louisiana. Mary Ann's loving and sweet nature infused those around her with strength, courage and love. She will be deeply missed by her surviving children, Beverly Baum Beech of Abita Springs, Louisiana, Edwin Carleton Baum, Jr. of Port Washington, New York and Sandra Baum Terrell of Covington, Louisiana. Also surviving Mary Ann, is her grandson, Beau Bradley Terrell and his spouse, Ivy Wilson Terrell, along with their daughter, Ryleigh Green Terrell, and Mary Ann's granddaughter, Kate Elizabeth Terrell, all of New Orleans, Louisiana. She is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Davis McDonald and Mary Elizabeth Simpson, and a step-father, Garnet Whitfield. Mary Ann is also preceded in death by her mother and father in law, Willa Elizabeth Goldthorpe Jones Baum and Morris Carleton Baum, her son-in-law, Donald Leo Terrell, and many cousins in the Birmingham area. Mary Ann will be placed at rest next to Ed during a graveside service on Friday morning, April 25, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery, 1120 19th Street North, Birmingham, Alabama.
