

Mary Carolyn Draper of Homewood went to be with the Lord August 2, 2011. born September 1, 1923 to John and Alma Hood of Cordova, AL. She was a WWII veteran, Army corporal where she worked in communications in the South Pacific. A long time member of Dawson Memorial Baptist Church, she worked in the nursery and sang in the Dawsonaires. Mary loved to travel and took many trips abroad. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Woodrow Wilson Draper and brother, James W. Hood of Huntsville. She is survived by her daughters, Karen Draper (Howard Graves) of Salem MA and Laura J. Bowlin (Dan) of Hoover AL; two granddaughters, Ashley Graves of Beverly, MA and Rachel Bowlin McCoy (Taylor) of Helena, AL; two great grandchildren, Andrew and Barrett McCoy; sisters, Bette Pena of Huntsville, Al, Ann Fowler (Dr. Walter) of Forston, GA and Patricia Coffey (William) of Ozark, Al. She is also survived by sister in law, Sandra Hood of Huntsville, Al and a host of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at 10:00 on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at Ridout's Valley Chapel in Homewood. Funeral service will at 11:00 in the chapel followed by a military graveside service at Elmwood Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Ridout's Valley Chapel (879-3401) Homewood, Al.
