Mary Louise Gray CROW
April 2, 1928 – January 9, 2021
Mary Louise Gray Crow, 92, of Birmingham, AL, passed away on Saturday, January 9th, 2021. Mary Lou was born in Montgomery, AL and married Abner Hodges “Pete” Crow of Ashville, AL in November 1950.
She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, Mackey Viola Pynes Gray and William “Bill” Gray, her sister, Winona Grutsch, and brothers, Colonel James J. Brown, William Leon “Buddy” Gray, and Gene Harris Gray. She is survived by her children, Randal Crow of Birmingham, AL, daughter Ashley Crow of Los Angeles, CA, son-in-law, Matthew John Armstrong, grandson, Pete Crow-Armstrong, sister-in-law, Agnes Brown of Fairfax, VA, and beloved nephews.
Mary Lou attended the University of Alabama, worked for the Mountain Brook Board of Education, and was a loving and exceptionally devoted wife and mother to her family. Her hobbies included gardening, cooking, sewing, and clowning. She was affectionately known as “Lou” and Lulu” to friends and loved ones. Kindness was truly the center of her being. The family would like to thank the special nurses and caregivers at Fairhaven Retirement Community who touched Mary Lou’s life and offer a special thank you to nurse and friend, Victoria Williams.
Due to Covid restrictions,there will be a private ceremony for family only. In lieu of flowers, the familyrequests that any donations be made to either the A.H. “Pete” Crow MemorialEndowed Real Estate Scholarship (P.O. Box 870101, Tuscaloosa, AL 35487) orthe Alzheimer’s Association, in her name.
