Mary Lophelia Nicholson

Mary Lophelia Nicholson, age 93, of Hoover, Alabama, passed away September 22, 2016. She was born August 23, 1923 on a Thursday to Lexie Mae and Oran Lenard Chapman of Pell City, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Henry Morris Nicholson, oldest son Gerald Burnham (Mary Ann), two brothers James and Charles Chapman, two sisters Wilma Jean Goss and Faye Chapman, Great Grandson Drake Holder.

She was a longtime member of East Lake Methodist Church

Mrs. Nicholson is survived by a daughter, Patricia Morgan (Johnny), two sons, Mike Nicholson (JoAnn) and Danny Nicholson (Sandra). Also ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, and nephews.

The family would like to give a special thanks to mom’s personal caregiver, Marjorie Tabb, Hospice care givers, Clay and Carolyn. Also a special thanks to the caregivers at Rittenhouse Senior Living: Linda Poe, Michelle, Christina, Karen, and so many others.

Visitation for Mrs. Nicholson will be Monday, September 26, 2016 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Ridout’s Valley Chapel. A graveside service will follow on Monday at 11:00 AM at Forest Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to St. Jude’s Hospital , the local Humane Society, or a charity of your choice.
