September 6, 1939 – June 26, 2026
Mary Louise Oliver Roebuck, 86, of Birmingham, Alabama, went home to be with the Lord on June 26, 2026.
Mary was born on September 6, 1939, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to George Raiford Oliver and Mary Louise Oliver. She went to high school at Stuart Hall in Staunton, VA and then graduated from the University of Alabama, where she was honored as a Corolla
Beauty in 1960, an early glimpse of the warmth and grace that would define her entire life.
For more than 35 years, Mary built a respected career as a Realtor in the Birmingham area, earning the trust and friendship of countless clients along the way. Her gift was never just helping people find a house. It was helping them find a home, and she did it with a kindness that left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Those who knew Mary often said the same thing: it was hard to find anyone who didn’t love her.
Mary’s faith was the foundation of her life. A longtime and devoted member of Canterbury United Methodist Church, she served as a Past President of the Canterbury United Methodist Women and gave generously of her time and heart to the church for decades.
Her love for the community reached well beyond the church walls. Mary served on the Board of Oasis Counseling for Women and Children, supporting it’s mission of caring for vulnerable women and families. She was also a longtime member of the Gaities Dance Club, and a member of The Grapevine Garden Club.
More than anything else, Mary was a devoted mother, grandmother, and greatgrandmother who truly loved her family. She delighted in every milestone, every visit, and every chance to gather around the people she loved.
Mary was preceded in death by her late husband, Dr. Robert L. Roebuck, D.M.D. and her parents.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Dr. Joseph Terrell Spencer; her daughter, Missy R. Nolen (Bo); her son, Robert O. Roebuck (Meg); her grandchildren, Mary Elise Nolen Davison (Ben), Megan Nolen, Dorsey Roebuck, Robert Roebuck, II; and her greatgrandson,Knox Davison. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in her honor to Canterbury United Methodist Church, the American Heart Association, the Parkinson Association of Alabama, or Oasis Counseling.
Mary’s warmth, radiant smile, and faith touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will carry on in the hearts of her family and
friends.
