

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Nadia Ayda Bajalieh, 78, of Birmingham, Alabama. Nadia passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Saturday, March 8th at 5:25 pm. Born on March 17, 1946, in Ramallah, Palestine. Nadia graduated from Lee High School in Jacksonville, FL and attended UAB. She was the proud mother and grandmother of three boys and two grandchildren.
Nadia fought a hard battle with breast cancer, never complaining, even to the end. A Palestinian immigrant that was tiny in stature but strong and mighty in spirit. Her time here on earth was not always easy, but she conquered it with a smile on her face.
She is preceded in death by her mother Farieda, father Joseph, husband Saleh, and beloved son Jeffrey.
She is survived by her sons Chris, Jason, his wife Bradley and son Saleh, and daughter in law Sally (Jeffrey) and daughter Betsy. She also leaves behind her brother Bader (Jeanette), and her sisters: Violette (George, deceased), Sylvia (Victor), and Hilda (Roger), along with many nieces, nephews and cousins who will all cherish her memory.
Nadia was the rock of her family. She was the driving force of the family businesses. Her love, encouragement, faith, and feistiness gave the family strength and resilience.
Nadia was an extraordinary cook and her influence can be seen through the lives and restaurants of her sons. She showed her love by abundantly feeding those she cared about; no one ever left her presence hungry. Beyond her culinary talents, Nadia loved to stay active, and she had a deep passion for exercise and living a healthy lifestyle.
Her love for her sons and her grandchildren was immeasurable; she will forever be remembered for the joy and warmth she brought to every gathering. Nadia’s legacy is one of love, family, and selflessness, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at Saint George Greek-Catholic Melkite Church, 425 16th Avenue South, Birmingham, AL 35205. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, with the service following at 11:00 AM. Mercy Meal to follow in the church hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Nadia’s name to the American Cancer Society for Breast Cancer Awareness.
