

Nancy Spurrier Hodges, 80, of Huntsville, loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and grandmother, passed away on January 29, 2024. She was born in Birmingham to Samuel and Wilma Rob Floyd Spurrier. She graduated from West End High School in Birmingham and attended the University of Alabama where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority and received bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education and speech pathology. There she met her future husband, Robert, and married on March 11, 1966. They went on to have two daughters, Ashley Leith Hodges and Erin Elizabeth Hodges Schrimsher.
Nancy worked as a teacher and Director of Admissions at Randloph School for over 32 years, retiring in 2009. Following her retirement, Nancy enjoyed time with her husband, children and grandchildren, traveling to the beach, playing bridge, serving as a member of the Huntsville Alabama Cosmopolitan Club, and volunteering in the Cuddler Program at Huntsville Hospital in the Neonatal ICU.
Nancy was predeceased by her husband, Robert L Hodges; brother, Donald N Spurrier; mother, Rob Spurrier; and father, Samuel Spurrier. She is survived by her daughters Ashley Hodges (Tristan Dixon) of Cullman and Erin Schrimsher (David) of Huntsville; and two grandchildren, Amanda Segars and Colton Segars of Birmingham.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Episcopal Church of the Nativity in Huntsville, Alabama on Friday, February 9, 2024 at 1:30 PM.

This endowment was established per the wishes of Robert and Nancy to provide scholarship funds for undergraduate nursing students who have demonstrated exemplary commitment to enter the nursing profession despite personal adversity.
